Let me first start by saying that this has had to be one of the worst customer service experiences I've every had. I brought my 2006 GSX-R750 in to Halls Motorsports of New Orleans to get serviced about two an a half months ago, because when I would ride it and go over 20 mph or get into high rpms the bike would completely die. When I initially brought my bike in on 8-26-15 my technician Joe diagnosed the problem and recommended I replace my throttle bodies which would be $1,600. I would pay 1,300 for new throttle bodies, $200 for 2 hours labor and $100 for the diagnostic. But the diagnostic would be deducted up to $200 if I decided to have Halls do the work. I was told to save money I could bring in the part if I could find it cheaper from another retail ( but the part wouldn't be warranty) which was fine so I did. After purchasing the throttle bodies (which cost $500) and having them installed I was then, notified by my tech Joe that he had miss diagnosed the problem and that the throttle bodies weren't the problem. I was then told that I would have to replace my ECU because it was shorted to the ground and the cost would be $1,430. I would pay $1,330 for the unit and $100 for 1 hour labor again I was give the option to bring in my own ECU (which I purchased for $750) if I chose I did and brought it in on 9-9-15. On 9-18-15 I was contacted and informed that the problem was fixed and my bike was ready for pick up, so I came with a tow truck because I was driving my own car loaded up and left. I was billed $342 which I didn't understand because I was told that the work for the ECU installment would be $100 (but I just figured I had also been charged for the misdiagnosis and installation of the throttle bodies I didn't need) Once I got the bike home I decided to give it another quickie spin for the day. To my astonishment I was still experiencing the same problems, so I immediately called the shop but got a voice mail so I left a message for the manager. On 9-21-15 I was contacted by store manager Thomas he insisted that I was at fault for the bike not running properly. After further debating with Thomas about the bikes issues and how to solve the problem. I was told if I could get the bike back to him he'd check everything out so I paid another $200 to have my bike towed back to Halls Motorsports. I've done so and now I just waiting for a proper diagnosis so I can get the work done right. All in I'm at a lost of $1,800 and a bike that still inoperable. Thanks a lot Hall Motorsports of New Orleans for nothing
They are NOT trained professionals. Among the worst service departments on the face of the planet! I was told it would be looked at with in 3 days. 10 days later with numerous phone calls they finally looked at it. I took my ski in to have the computer reprogrammed because the wrong key was used. (ya i know its not supposed to start with a different key) So the ski went into anti theft mode and shuts the fuel pump off. Im 100% mechanically inclined; but do not have computer diagnostic programs. During my diagnosis it was not receiving fuel; so i swapped the pump with another from an exact ski. No joy. So with further research this is how I found it was in anti theft mode, and the computer needed to be "unlocked/re-set". I did try the battery disconnect overnight; but it didn't work. This was all explained to Halls at the time of drop off. They charged me 100.00 to tell me the ski was not getting fuel and the fuel pump was bad. Charged me 56.00 to change the plugs because according to them you need new plugs to do a compression test? When in actuality the plugs are removed to put the tester in the plug holes. 25.00 in shop materials? They wanted 700.00 for 3hrs labor (300.00) and the pump (400.00). I told them again the pump was already changed; this is a computer issue and it only takes 20 minutes for me to change the pump out. Then they said in the same conversation well we need to replace the fuel pump first then my mechanic seems to think it may need a new wiring harness if its not the pump. WTF? Are you kidding me? So now there just guessing. I asked them to connect it to the BUDS and reset it. The service man says our BUDS isn't working. Holy S***! This is why I took it to them. Anybody can just start replacing parts and they can do it for a hell of a lot less then 100.00 hour and order the parts off E-Bay or any other parts site. I got my ski out of there disputed all charges of the bill on the C.C. I got my ski home I disconnected the computer and re-connected it and it reset its self. Job done in 10 minutes! What a hassle.
The parts counter is always so helpful. I have had to buy parts from them multiple times, and when I dont know what I am really needing, they are always more than willing to figure it out. They are always so friendly. The sales representatives are also so helpful. They want you to be able to buy what you want, and they try everything possible to get you financed at a great rate. Keep up the good work!!
Basically what Halls Motorsports does is use "Teasers"!! They advertise these prices, which is merely the MSRP minus the fees that they are going to add back on. I just dealt with them and the Bike went from the sale price back to the MSRP, a $2,600 difference. Really they would be much more honest and less deceptive if they would simply list the bikes at MSRP "out the door" Though I was amused by owner Chris Billiot's comment in the section, "you're more important to us that the price" So anyone and all that see a bike for sale on Halls web site, just look at the MSRP listed above the sale price and that is what you'll pay at least!!
First experience was when they serviced bike twice for warranty. Had to turn a wrench on it afterwards because they didn't bother tightening the bolts on the swingarm. On the seocnd service, they acted like they would not replace a part under warranty and I expressed I wasn't going to pay if it was not covered. I was told by the manager that I needed to get the hell on then. Second experience was I went in to look at a bike. Was quoted a price. Went in to pick it up the next day, same salesman but somehow the price increased. Last experience was I ordered a part. Was told it should be in a few days later and they would call. A month later, no phone call. I go in and pick up my part and explained to them why I would not be doing any more business with them.
