Wow what a disappointment. Bought their top of the line warranty and finally had to use it. Called Continental ahead of time to discuss repairs and was told just take it wherever I wanted, they don't want the customer in the middle, they take care of everything, etc etc etc. Well, turns out not to be quite so true.
Labor only covered at a lower rate than any reputable shop would ever think of charging, only a certain percentage of the parts cost was covered, they had all sorts of ways to worm out of paying for repairs (and again, this was their 'top of the line' warranty), and worse they don't have a corporate credit card to process payments. They either send a check to the repair facility (which means they'll hold the car until they receive the payment) or you have to front the money on the repair then hope and pray that Continental will actually reimburse you.
I knew I should've stuck with a warranty backed by the manufacturer. Think twice before buying a contract with them. I'll NEVER do business with this company again and will be sure to spread the good word.
Do not buy anything from this company. I bought their so-called "Top of the line" warranty. The first time I needed to use it they wouldn't pay for OEM parts. The second time I used it they would not cover any of the cost of the repair. A Timing Chain guide broke and because of how the warranty is worded, they consider this a normal wear part so it's not covered. Every other part associated with the timing chain was covered, including the plastic cover that goes over it. A part that will never wear at all! Had the timing chain broke and bent valves in the motor, they would have said the broken guide caused the break and therefore the repair is not covered. Stupid! Basically the warranties are worded so they can talk their way out of anything and leave you with the bill. I read over everything I signed when I bought this warranty and I was quite impressed with how much stuff they say they cover, right up until I actually had to use the warranty.
We purchased the Ultra, their best warranty on a pre-owned BMW. It was for 4-years/48,000 miles. My wife totaled her car 5-months after the warranty went into effect, there is also a 30 day waiting period after we purchased the warranty no one told us about. So, 5 months after the warranty was eligible to be used my wife was in a very bad accident and the car was totaled. It took almost 3-months to get a refund check, and the refund check was for 52% of the warranty value. We used 12% of the warranty life and instead of being reimbursed 88% we are reimbursed 52%? Cannot get anyone on the phone to discuss, when you try to call Accounts Payable the phone rings, no one answers, no one answers in any department, except the one where you can buy a warranty? That is about as unprofessional as it gets. I understand maybe a fee should be charged for cancelling a warranty, but is should not be 36% of the warranty value. Will never use this company again.
As an Independent repair shop owner for high end vehicles i can tell you right now your being ripped off, they want to use only junk yard parts and will make the customer pay all differences in labor and parts, the customer service is a joke , the staff are all extremely rude and the process to make a claim usually has to be repeated over and over until you get someone who will file the claim then they try every excuse they can to justify not paying. Our shop along with most in the area will not work with this company. Its not worth the headache and to top it off you might get paid within 2-3 months if your lucky enough to get paid at all.
BUYER BEWARE THIS COMPANY IS A RIP-OFF PUT THE MONEY IN YOUR POCKET BECAUSE ONCE YOU GIVE IT TO THEM ITS GONE, WORST COMPANY I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH ! TAKE IT FROM A REPAIR SHOP OWNER YOU CAN ONLY USE THIS WARRANTY AT GAS STATIONS NO DECENT SHOP WILL WORK WITH THEM , MINE INCLUDED
I purchased my first BMW - an X5 with over 100,000 miles on it. I love a sunroof and the panaroma roof makes this SAV feel like a convertible. But it failed. The Continental warranty paid for it all. One repair and the warranty $$$ was well worth it! I will always recommend this local warranty company. I want my customers to be happy and not worry about the cost of their cars electrical components, etc.
