I had my son's 99 mustang towed to Auto Medics to repace a starter. They called and said it would cost $399.00. I thought that was high but told them to go ahead. I called BJ's Auto in Saint Joseph, MO and they quoted $267.00, also called Anderson Ford - "the dealer"!!! and they quoted $269.00. Called Auto Medics and they said they may be quoting you a rebuilt starter and also it cost more for labor if it is a manual transmition, which it is. So I called Ford Dealer back and they said it is a new starter and the labor is actually less intensive than an automatic, but labor is quoted the same. I rest my case; they overcharged me and LIED to me, so they will lie to anyone!!!. BAD, BAD bussiness,
I'm a shadetree mechanic, and can do almost everything myself. I take my cars here when there's something I can't diagnose, or don't feel like dealing with due to the weather or whatever. The mechanics seem to know their stuff, but I dread dealing with Larry and his wife? They are always so rude and treat me like an idiot. They laugh, they scoff, they argue... It is quite infuriating. I only take my car here when I have to, and because the mechanics do good work. I'd bring my vehicles here more often if it wasn't for them being so rude.
In Sept of 2012 Auto Medics replaced a manual Transmission for me, They also replaced the Clutch, Flywheel and Pressure Plate, Etc... I returned the vehicle back to them a week later because the Clutch didn't work 100% and the shiftier felt very loose and the check engine light was on. The mechanic "Dave" was very pleasant,Dave explained to me the issue with the check engine light being a connector on the O2 sensor and the clutch having a little air still in the line. Dave's boss "Larry" was extremely verbally abusive to Dave and myself. Treating me as though I were an idiot that wasn't worth taking the time to talk to. Larry stated the shifting of the transmission was fine and if anything failed within the first year it would be covered. Larry refused to let Dave look into the shifting because it could function. Sense then I have found the backup lights don't work. Larry said that I would need to pay to get that fixed (3/26/13). The stick shift started turning, again Larry said "you need to pay for us to fix that"(6/27/13)
So today I came home and looked into the shifting issue to find the mechanic that put the transmission in didn't install the wedge bolt correctly. Thus the stick shift would turn on the shaft coming out of the transmission. I also looked under the vehicle for the backup lights to find the mechanic had not put the signal wires back as they came off of the old transmission. The mounting places and clips were all right next to each other. By not mounting the wiring harness the brake light wires ended up getting cut from rubbing on the transmission mount.
My experience with Auto Medics has not been a trouble free experience, Larry has been totally rude sense I came back with the first issue. I would not advise anyone to go to Auto Medics. The business portrays to be a "Christian" run business. I didn't see much of "Christ" behavior out of Larry in any of my return trips to Auto Medics. And Larry is the main person that seems to be representing Auto Medics.
I wish someone would have taken the time to put out a "Buyer Beware" review before I had went to Auto Medics last Sept.
I rated this place this way because when i took them my car a while ago they totally screwed it up and me over. i took it in to do a simple replacement, and while they were doing it they didnt check the fluids before returning it to me. and common sense says that when you change the brakes u check the fluid, so when they did this to my car (wasnt breaks, just a example) they totaled my car from it running out of the fluid need to run. then they tried to blame it on me, saying it came in without any, so it left with none. (enter where example plays a part) but then later said that what they did had no affect on my fluid, total BS. my recommendation, find somewhere else, they are idiots. or if must use, CHECK FLUIDS. before and AFTER. otherwise you could have oil changed and leave and the engine seize because there was no oil, and only reason. because it came in that way thats how it leaves. complete idiots in this place in my opinion and my experience with them.
If you ever wanted to buy a car from here or have it repaired, don't. The guy told me that "everything is promised to be in working condition when you buy it." Well as it was cold that day, I never tested the windows. Then it was warm enough to roll them down, did, then COULDN'T get one back up again. It is below freezing and raining. So I drive through the weather anyways to see if they will fix it.
I have a 3 month warranty. But they said it's only for the engine and transmission. I tried telling the lady there what he promised me before selling the car and she just laughed at the problem. SHE FREAKING LAUGHED! Freezing to death and unable to drive to work isn't a joke! I am so glad somebody thinks it is though! This place is honestly terrible when it comes to caring about the customer.
Crappy customer service that just tries to scam you for a quick buck. Never go there.
