Ashley Tierney08/06/131 Stars - I got an original quote for car insurance and I paid 6 months in full when I was in the office signing my papers. Two months later I get a bill doubling my insurance rate. When I called David to figure out what was going on, I was told there was a lapse in my coverage but no one could tell me when. They had to reach some headquarters to figure out something that seemed simple to figure out. I called multiple times because the due date of this new bill was coming and I didn't feel I owed that money since I paid what I was originally quoted. I talked to David once the whole time I was dealing with this situation and when I explained to him what had been discussed with the rude secretaries, I got the reply of Well we already went over this, but let me look at it. I was getting no where with anyone in that office. I was told they were dealing with a lot of calls from storm damage, so apparently my problem wasn't that important because I didn't have storm damage. I then called the St Louis office (it was an 800 number) and I talked to a lady named Colleen. She was very nice, which helped keep me calm because I was very frustrated, and I explained the situation to her saying I paid my initial quote and I got a bill 2 months later with no call or email or any explanation and whenever I called, the secretaries in David's office were rude and David never seemed to be available to talk to me, and never returned my calls. I told her I felt like I was put on the back burner because I didn't have storm damage and I don't feel I owe that money when it was their mistake. She took care of the situation, said sorry and got my policy canceled without me having to pay that extra money or the 10% charge for cancelling in the first 6 months. I went to AAA because they gave me a cheaper quote than the insurance I had already, just to find out they put my information in wrong so now I owe them more money. I couldn't get a hold of David, so my boyfriend tried. He was with them for quite some time and because they way I was treated, he decided to leave AAA also. When he spoke to David, weird that he could get a hold of him and I couldn't, David admitted that they made a mistake. My boyfriend then talked to Colleen at the St Louis location to cancel his policy and when he didn't get a refund check and was receiving bills still he called David's office and spoke to Connie. He explained the situation very briefly, and when she was told I had contacted another location she made the comment that it was an unorthodox way of going about it. I don't appreciate that. When I feel like I am getting screwed over and not being helped, I will go somewhere else, so comments like that are unprofessional and unnecessary. I will never again insure with AAA.
