Excellent service. Like a dunce, I took my car in to be inspected without a current registration and it was only noticed after I took a taxi home. Instead of making me suck it up and come back to deal with it, he went and got all of the necessary information for me to renew online and gave it to me over the phone! Saved me a great deal of time, money, and frustration.
I also had my car in to repair what I thought was a broken window regulator, and was prepared to pay for a new one. Even though that's what I told him I wanted, when he opened it up he discovered that instead of being broken, it was simply that a screw had fallen out and disabled it. Instead of replacing it and charging me for a new one (or just charging me for a new one) he told be about the screw and only charged a pittance for it.
Excellent service, great people. I'll be bringing my car back here whenever I need repairs.
Great repair shop, I would definitely recommend!
Paul, the owner and lead mechanic, is the one you’ll talk to on the phone. He’s the most honest and straight forward mechanic you could ask for. One of my car’s issues was with its computer, even though part of the repair went beyond this shops capabilities they still stayed in touch, recommending a car dealer and ensuring the proper repair was accomplished.
They charge by the hour and do a great job at keeping you updated on the car’s status. I don’t plan on going to any other repair shop after working with these guys.
Three very simple reasons to visit Peake's:
1.) Paul, the lead mechanic, will remember your name and provides thorough, honest work
2.) They back their service up 100% - if your car needs to be towed for service (even from Dubois) for an error created on a operation, they will pay the tow and repair while swiftly correcting the problem
3.) They're concerned about your time, your car, your life - not the bottom line - they have enough loyal customers to sustain that
I have a '99 Subaru Outback that is terminally ill. She's had anything and everything replaced. In the past, some auto shops in State College have taken advantage of that because I was a student. Now that I'm leaving town for a new job, I'm sad to leave a mechanic group that has been so honest, kind, and trustworthy (not to mention the professional, fast work that they offer.
Great shop. Took my car in while on vacation at black moshannon. Examined the brakes and said they were in good shape all around and required no action. Few shops will say that whether it's the truth or not!
Peake's is absolultey the best auto repair place in town. He is honest, hard-working and takes great care of your vehicle. I was lucky enough to find Peake's when I moved to state college 3 years ago and I wouldn't even consider going anywhere else. They also specialize in classic cars, but can take care of my (newish) Honda and Mazda. I HIGHLY recommend!

Quick, responsive, and friendly. The price seemed fair as well. I just had an Oil Change and filter replacement in my Acura (the A1 service light was on) and they had me in and out within an hour. Packed house for being a bit off the beaten path (the only way to get to Randolph is if you're coming southbound down Route 1 or through Del Ray). They guys are fantastic. Thanks so much for all that!!
Called for my emissions test and they were able to schedule for the next day. In and out in 20 min and $30. It doesn't get any better than that. Staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. Highly Recommended!!
I had a fuel pump replaced by you and it had a manufacturing defect (not your fault) you kindly and promptly replaced it free of charge. Great customer service. Thank you so much for all that. Would love to visit again..:)
I have been taking my BMW to the dealership ever since I got it 3 years ago and my maintenance warranty expired a few months ago, I was due for an oil change and really didn't want to pay the dealership price. I was referred to Walks Service Center by a good friend, they quoted me half the price plus offered to do a car inspection and so much more...not to mention they researched how to reset my computer which is not in the manual of course because BMW wants you to always take the car to the dealership. I completely trusted them with my car which is a big deal (trust me) and the customer service was beyond amazing plus the turn around time was super fast!!!! They definitely have me as a new loyal customer and will be referring all my friends!! Highly Recommend!!
My friend was moving her mattress out and he car got towed within five minutes of parking. She had a permit to park there too. I ended up actually going to get an inspection done two months after this incident and the mechanic said I needed both of my axels to be realigned. This was an estimated $800 repair. I didn't believe the mechanic's judgement and brought the car to my friends mechanic shop back in Philadelphia. He said there was nothing wrong with my car.
You need to be EXTREMELY careful when selecting this company for inspection as they will try and get as much money from you as possible.
