I had to get several 14 ton deliveries of sand to fix the mud situation in my horses' paddocks. Victor set the deliveries up as practice runs for his students. The students were great from attitude to technical driving/maneuvering; it was clear that there was solid instruction going on and strong rapport between instructor and students. I recommend anyone needing job training for a good job to take a look at CDS!
I will admit, when I 1st started off at the school, I thought it was going to be easy & I did not study much. After two days of class, I realized it was really up to me to get my CDL. Someone made a statement during class, "anyone can drive, but can you pass the CDL tests". I am not going to bad mouth the school, but I think they charge too much for the actual time spent in the classroom looking at PowerPoint slides. You have to do the work yourself, they provide all the information you need to pass the CDL but you have to study, study, study. It's that simple, don't go there thinking they will take the tests for you... I will also say that Pam did a great job training me, thanks again. I recommend the school.
CDS delivered as advertised! They give the expert instruction and coaching necessary to pass the Class A drivers test. I found the instructors and other staff to be both knowledgeable and helpful. The course is not spoon fed, they treat you as an adult and expect you do your part too! My time spent at the school was time well spent. The week following graduation, I had three job interviews resulting in three job offers. I took the one I liked best; it was nice to have a choice. Thanks CDS!
I graduated in Oct 2009 from CDS.They didn't promise that I would get local work but they would try. I tired to find local but was told by all companies that I needed OTR experience. I dreaded going OTR so I put off finding local work. I didn't use my license until I was unemployed living in San Franicso. I took an OTR job w/ CR England. CR England is one of the toughest OTR companies out there. But like all OTR companies they keep you out for long periods. Now days, most local companies will take you w/ 6 months of OTR experience. CDS is a great school to get your license. I like the fact that trainers were former truck drivers. It's better to learn from someone who's been there. I stuck it out w/ CR Engalnd and got 18 months of OTR exp. Now, I'm working local for a company in Sumner,WA.
I don't regret spending 18 months OTR I got to see the US and I'm still learning.I did my research before I picked a Truck school, CDS was recommended and now I'm recommending it. The reason why I didn't use my license right away was because I was a commercial fisherman so my license was a backup for when I quit fishing.Anyone who whines about how hard or how fast the training process is shouldn't be driving truck.Because driving truck can be stressful.
