4 Stars - Please read this whole review as it has a very happy ending. My wife and I moved into a 2 bedroom unit here at Walden Pond from a 1 bedroom unit at a complex I will not name. Our previous unit had a severe mold problem that was causing us health issues. Our move-in process went mostly smoothly, and all the staff we dealt with were very nice and helpful. There was one problem however. We were told our unit was going to have new carpets, but apparently there was a miscommunication with the maintenance people, and the carpets were never replaced. We were also not told that the previous tenants were smokers. We found burn marks on the counters and the carpets, and the unit smelled of stale cigarette. Unfortunately we did not catch this until after we signed the lease, which was a mistake on our part, and we made sure to write down anything that was wrong with the unit within the first 72 hours so that they knew we didn't cause any of it. We started noticing other smells and we would constantly be congested when we were in the apartment. When we brought up the situation, they were very helpful, and offered to bring in a professional carpet cleaner. Unfortunately, this did not work, and we were still having health issues. I then sent an email to the management explaining the situation and that I felt that the solution would be to replace the carpets. To be honest, I expected a bit more push-back at this suggestion, but they jumped right on it, and scheduled a time to have the carpets replaced. They even offered the use of a storage unit by our apartment so that we had a place to move all our stuff while the carpets were being replaced. The carpets were replaced within a day, and already we're noticing a huge improvement in our quality of life. Despite this whole situation, I would highly recommend Walden Pond Apartments as a place to live. The walkway around the duck pond is beautiful, and the units are nice and spacious (at least our 2 bedroom is).
The only reason why I still only give this review 4 stars, is that the parking situation is pretty bad. There are only a few guest spots by the office, and every other parking spot, covered or uncovered, are resident only. Guests either have to park all the way over by the office (our unit is on the opposite side of the complex from the office), or on the street, which is usually filled up. They did notify us as soon as a covered/reserved spot opened up by our unit, but we only have one reserved spot right now so my wife has to find whatever uncovered spots are open. If at any point the parking situation improves, I will update this review to the full 5 stars.
Overall, a great place to live. Would definitely recommend.
