My wife took our vehicles to Feltner's for inspections. Our first vehicle was rejected, but the WV State Police website specifically stated that it should have passed. I called and a gentleman answered who was extremely rude and angry. I cited the chapter, article, and subsection of WV Motor Vehicle Law, and all he kept saying was, "Well that's not what's in the book that the state police gave me!"
I asked him to quote the passage, or explain to me the discrepancy, but he only became irate.
I deal with jerks every day, so it wasn't a big deal. But finally after my repeated attempts to get him to acknowledge that the state police said that my car should pass inspection, he told me to "pick up my f#$%ing truck and stick it up my @ss!"
Very classy. Needless to say I'll be filing a complaint with the WVSP, since he is operating as an agent of the state during inspections and cannot refuse service. It should go without saying that this creep will never get a dollar from me.
Also, there is no way this guy should have this many positive reviews online. He is obviously paying a company to fabricate an online reputation. Some websites I've never heard of have over 200 reviews for this guy averaging 4.9 stars with a 99.5% referral rate. How is that possible with only a dozen or so Google reviews??
We used this place almost a year ago and only now I find time to write about it. You definitely can get appointment fast... that's what made us use him... since it was urgent matter ... state inspection was due in a week. this guy wanted to charge almost triple that pro dealership just to replace bulb in the head light and fog lights...what? he was like 99$ to inspect why the bulb is off... and then i will replace it...what?!?! I thought dealerships try to rip you off... anyways... he started talking about breaks not working properly blah, blah... we have warranty with the dealership in nearby state where we bought the car they all point check in every 7K miles... (they can't give us WV State Inspection since there are in MD) last time they gave excellent review on our car, nothing was working improperly, they changed the oil filters etc. anyways, I take my car to show my breaks and bulbs, they say nothing wrong with them... they replaced bulb 3 times less in a price... so I am taking my car back to this Feltner's shop because per law I have 7 days for revaluation to get inspection sticker and wont be charged again for that... guy said: i see the bulbs are replaced but your breaks are still have issue blah blah... I politely explained him what my dealership, guess what this guy curses me out using violent language "F word and stupid"... what!?!?!?! I am in shock! now I need to research where i should report him... this is unacceptable behavior... I understand this guy is old and can't control his nerves then don't do business. anyway, we decide to be late on the car inspection waited for available spot with another place Toyota in Martinsburg (this is not out dealership) AND GUESS WHAT... we passed inspection nothing was showing wrong...
Oh by the way forgot to mention after i visit the second time this Feltner's shop... when he still denied to give a sticker... my air bag light was on.... so not sure what he did there... definitely could do it on purpose ... so we had to show it our dealership again but during inspection they did not find a cause and reset the light... we did not have issue since... so I would strongly recommend be cautious if you decide to use Feltner's place... I will never use him, and don't trust him... Trying to bully and sell your service is one thing but tampering with customer's car is completely wrong!
My wife took her vehicle to Feltner's Automotive for State Inspection. Feltner's failed the vehicle for State Inspection stating the Upper Left Ball Joint was bad. They then gave an estimate of $250 Labor and $56 for the ball joint, bringing the repair to over $300. My Grandfather owned an Automotive Repair garage and I grew up working as a mechanic. When my wife brought this to me I laughed as I believed this to be a ridiculous price. I replaced the ball joint in question for $18.50 and it took approximately 1 hour to do in my drive way with a press borrowed from Auto Zone. There was nothing wrong with the ball joint I removed, but I replaced it anyway to appease Feltner's Automotive and to receive a State Inspection. My wife took the vehicle back to Feltner's Automotive. The second time, Feltner's Automotive rejected the vehicle and told my wife the CV Boot was gone. This was ridiculous. The CV Boot was on the vehicle, but the clamp was loose. The Boot was fully functional without damage, the clamp was just loose and needed to be tightened. I went to Feltner's Automotive to question his inspection practices and stated that I believed he was taking advantage of my wife. I explained my automotive background and that I had personally replaced the ball joint he claimed was bad and that the CV Boot was not "gone" but that the clamp simply needed to be tightened. I requested a refund of the $22.00 my wife had paid him, $11.00 each visit. Mr. Feltner began cursing me in front of other customers. He used a very long burst of expletive language directed at me to include calling me a Mother F..... He told me to get out of his store. I once again requested a refund of my money because of his unethical business practices and the fact he was trying to take advantage of my wife. He then picked up the phone and called the police asking them to come remove me from his business. I was not aggressive towards Mr. Feltner in any way. I simply wanted a refund of the $22.00 he charged my wife for the 2 visits.
In my opinion, this business takes advantage of un-knowledgeable customers by failing their vehicle for State Inspection and then charging an exorbitant price to complete the repairs. In my opinion these practices are unethical. I believe other consumers need to be warned.
The ball joint repair on my wife's vehicle requires removing the front tire. Removing 1 (one) bolt holding the Ball Joint in place. Removing 2 (screws) that support the brake lines and then pressing the ball joint out with a ball joint press. Any automotive mechanic and garage should be able to easily complete this task in 45 minutes no problem. The high end mechanic labor in this area is $100-$120 per hour. A high end Manufacturer Recommended Part for this vehicle is $34.00, I purchased a high quality one for $18.50. Feltner's Automotive wanted $56.00 for the part.
The owner of this business was very aggressive towards me and did not hesitate to use extremely foul and abusive language.
We use Feltner's Automotive Service for all our automotive needs. Everything from oil changes to tires, brake service, and general repairs. They are always fair, honest, and timely with their work. I am comfortable taking my vehicle to Feltner's because I know they will not try to sell me something I don't need. They always treat me right.
