Jackson Wolfe06/16/151 Stars - I've previously had great service at Monroe over the last 3 years. When I went today the awesome manager (Chris?) was no longer there. The new guy wasn't knowledgeable at all. None of the mechanics were the same as 6 months ago. It opens at 7:30 yet none of the mechanics were there yet at 8:15. Bad sign but I convinced myself they were all in a meeting with the manager. I was wrong. I left my van for an alignment and got a call 4 hours later saying that the alignment cannot be done for a list of reasons that weren't even remotely true. I was told that it couldn't be aligned because the tires weren't new, the tie rods and steering box were worn, and the caster/camber was not adjustable. All lies. Because I had replaced the steering box 3k miles ago with the best unit on the market and tie rods 8k miles ago. Every other alignment specialist knows that the alignment is done at the hubs and not at the tires making the worn but even tires acceptable for alignment. Got the van back driving way worse than when I dropped it off. It was pulling hard to the left and the steering wheel 20 degrees of Center clockwise. Promptly took it to Rainbow tire who verified that my steering box, ball joints, and tie rods were fine. The toe was way off and they apparently fooled with what they claimed was the "non adjustable" caster/camber bushings making the left side camber 3 degrees less than the right side causing the pulling issue. Even tire was evidence that the alignment had been close enough before they touched it. As a mechanical engineer and a past mechanic I know when I'm being lied to when it comes to cars. They could have told me the truth that they messed it up and I would have been more ok with driving away in an unsafe vehicle wondering if my wheels were going to fall off before I got home. Instead they told me that I need to go to the incompetent mechanic that put the tie rods in and have them fixed before they would touch it again. I put the tie rods in myself. TL:DR- They messed up big time, lied, and blamed everything on me. Rainbow tire didn't have a problem doing the alignment.Nikki Dennis02/16/151 Stars - I have spent thousands at this location r (fuel pumps, bearings, water pumps, tires, etc) and even though I realized they were overpriced, I was willing to continue having all my vehicles serviced there due to its convenient location next to a car rental agency and my sons' daycare, and because of the great customer service I received. I had my tires replaced and an alignment in July, and by the end of September, the tires were completely bald in the inner tread (same wear as before the alignment they supposedly did). Took it to another garage and they said there was no way they had actually aligned the vehicle. Then, a few weeks ago, I got a nail in my tire and it was leaking. I live about 30 miles away from Morgantown, but I was a couple miles away from Monroe, and being a repeat customer for years, I was sure Chris and his staff could help me out. I stopped 2 hours prior to their closing time, was greeted by name, and I asked for the tire to be plugged. I was shocked when I was told they didn't have time. I have had to have tires plugged numerous times, and it was never more than a 10 minute job. I understand there were others with appointments, but seriously? At 11 degrees and with a 4 year old in tow, I waited 2 hours for AAA because they wouldn't take 5 minutes to put the plug in. Terrible customer service and I will never spend another dime there.Google User03/25/151 Stars - Went to get an alignment and something else done. They changed my oil instead of doing what I originally told them to do, and I don't think they even did an alignment, if they did, they didn't do it right. I have to get another one, because it's pulling harder to the right and the tire looks off. I will not be returning.t Clarke08/16/145 Stars - If your going to have car trouble, make sure it's in Morgantown, WV, so you can take your care to Monro Muffler! Chris and his staff were so professional, knowledgable and accommodating. I was in jam as I dropped of my student at school and had severe transmission problems, they diagnosed the problem, helped me get back on the road and instructed me what to do along the way so I could make the trip back. They was no charge, and they even fixed my tire which had a nail in it from all the construction around town. Make sure you have a reliable car for the trip to Morgantown, as the hills will tear your car up!! Thanks again Chris and the staff at Monro Muffler!Jake Sandridge07/10/141 Stars - I had my car towed here, so when I arrived to pick up my car, I found out that extra work had been done that I didn't know would be needed. The work was necessary, so there would have been no problem, but to my surprise, when I simply asked why I wasn't informed before the extra work was started, the employee Chris became extremely defensive, even threatening to keep my keys. This behavior was completely unwarranted, and made me very suspicious that something was up. Then I asked him to print me a breakdown of the charges before he charged my card, and he pretended that there was no way for him to do this. I definitely won't be back after that sketchy behavior.
